Ordering & General Questions
What is DTF (Direct-to-Film) printing?
DTF (Direct-to-Film) printing is a revolutionary heat transfer method where designs are printed onto a special PET film using specialized DTF ink, then coated with adhesive powder and heat-cured. The transfer is then pressed onto fabric using a heat press. DTF transfers work on virtually any fabric type (cotton, polyester, blends, nylon, leather) and produce vibrant, durable, full-color prints with excellent wash resistance. Learn more on our DTF tutorial videos page.
How do I place an order?
Ordering is easy! Simply choose your product type (single DTF transfers, gang sheets, or custom gang sheet builder), upload your artwork, select your size and quantity, and checkout. We accept all major credit cards, PayPal, and Apple Pay. You'll receive an email confirmation immediately and production updates throughout the process.
Is there a minimum order quantity?
No! Unlike many DTF printing companies, we have NO minimum order quantity. You can order as few as one single transfer or as many as you need. This makes us perfect for small businesses, startups, hobbyists, and anyone testing new designs before bulk ordering.
Do you offer bulk or wholesale pricing?
Yes! We offer competitive pricing for bulk orders and B2B customers. The more you order, the better the price per transfer. For wholesale accounts or large volume orders (1,000+ transfers), please call us at (832) 666-0266 for custom pricing.
Can I order samples before placing a large order?
Absolutely! We encourage customers to order samples first to test quality, colors, and pressing techniques. Order a single transfer of your design to test before committing to larger quantities. This ensures you're 100% satisfied with the final product.
What file types do you accept?
We accept PNG, JPG, PDF, AI, EPS, PSD, and SVG files. For best results, we recommend high-resolution PNG files with transparent backgrounds at 300 DPI or higher. Your artwork should be sized to the final print dimensions you want. Need help with your files? Check our artwork preparation tutorials.
Do you offer design services or artwork help?
While we don't offer full design services, we can help with basic artwork adjustments like removing backgrounds, resizing, or converting file formats. For complex design work, we recommend hiring a graphic designer or using design tools like Canva or Adobe Illustrator.
Pricing & Payment
How is DTF transfer pricing calculated?
Our pricing is based on the length of film used, not the number of colors or designs. This means you can have unlimited colors, gradients, and photo-realistic details at no extra cost! Gang sheets are priced by total square footage. Use our gang sheet builder to see instant pricing as you design.
Are there setup fees or art fees?
No! We have NO setup fees, NO art fees, and NO screen fees. You only pay for the transfers you order. This makes DTF printing much more affordable than traditional screen printing, especially for small quantities or multi-color designs.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover), PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Shop Pay. All payments are processed securely through Shopify's encrypted payment system.
Do you offer payment plans or net terms for businesses?
For established businesses ordering regularly, we can discuss net-30 payment terms. Please contact us at (832) 666-0266 to set up a business account with payment terms.
Shipping & Delivery
What is your turnaround time?
Our standard turnaround time is 24-48 hours for most orders. This means your transfers are printed, packaged, and shipped within 1-2 business days. Rush production (same-day or next-day) is available for an additional fee – just contact us before ordering.
Do you offer free shipping?
Yes! We offer free shipping on all DTF transfer orders over $99 (DTF transfers and UV DTF transfers only). Orders under $99 have a flat shipping rate. Note: DTF consumables (ink, powder, film) ship separately with calculated rates due to weight.
Do you ship internationally?
Currently, we ship within the United States only. We're working on international shipping options and will update this page when available. For international customers, we recommend using a US-based forwarding service.
Can I pick up my order locally in Houston?
Yes! Local pickup is available at our Houston facility. Select "Local Pickup" at checkout and we'll email you when your order is ready (usually same-day or next-day). This saves you shipping costs and gets your transfers faster! Our address will be provided in your pickup confirmation email.
How are transfers packaged and shipped?
All transfers are carefully packaged between protective sheets to prevent damage during shipping. We use USPS, UPS, or FedEx depending on your location and order size. You'll receive a tracking number via email as soon as your order ships.
What if my order arrives damaged?
We take great care in packaging, but if your order arrives damaged, please contact us within 48 hours with photos. We'll reprint and ship replacements at no charge. Customer satisfaction is our top priority!
DTF Transfers & Products
What is a DTF gang sheet?
A DTF gang sheet is a single sheet of film with multiple designs printed on it. This is the most cost-effective way to order multiple designs or quantities because you're maximizing the use of film space. You can mix different designs, sizes, and quantities on one sheet. Use our gang sheet builder tool to create your custom layout!
What's the difference between single transfers and gang sheets?
Single transfers are individual designs cut to size and ready to press. Gang sheets contain multiple designs on one sheet that you cut apart yourself. Gang sheets are more economical for multiple designs, while single transfers are convenient and ready-to-use. Both have the same quality and durability.
What fabrics work with DTF transfers?
DTF transfers work on virtually any fabric! This includes cotton, polyester, poly-cotton blends, nylon, spandex, canvas, denim, leather, and even performance fabrics. They work equally well on light and dark garments. This versatility makes DTF superior to other transfer methods like vinyl or sublimation.
How long do DTF transfers last?
When properly pressed and cared for, DTF transfers last 50+ washes without fading, cracking, or peeling. The key is following proper pressing instructions (305°F for 10-15 seconds with medium-firm pressure). Our transfers are commercial-grade quality – the same we use for thousands of customer orders weekly.
Can DTF transfers be washed and dried?
Yes! DTF transfers are machine washable and dryer safe. For best longevity, we recommend washing inside-out in cold water and tumble drying on low heat. Avoid bleach and fabric softeners. With proper care, your transfers will look vibrant for years.
What is UV DTF and how is it different from regular DTF?
UV DTF transfers are designed for hard, non-fabric surfaces like tumblers, glass, metal, wood, plastic, and acrylic. They use UV-cured ink and a special adhesive that bonds to hard surfaces without a heat press – just peel and stick! Regular DTF is for fabrics and requires heat pressing. Check out our UV DTF collection for hard surface transfers.
Can I apply DTF transfers with a household iron?
While a heat press is recommended for best results, you can use a household iron in a pinch. Use the highest heat setting (cotton/linen), apply firm pressure for 15-20 seconds, and press from multiple angles. However, a heat press provides more even pressure and temperature for professional results. See our pressing tutorial videos.
DTF Consumables & Supplies
Do you sell DTF printing supplies?
Yes! We offer a complete range of DTF consumables including DTF ink (all 5 colors), adhesive powder, and DTF film rolls. We use these exact supplies in our production facility, so you know they're commercial-grade quality.
What DTF ink colors do I need?
For full-color DTF printing, you need all 5 colors: Black, White, Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow (CMYK + White). The CMYK colors combine to create any color in your design, while white provides an opaque underbase for dark garments. All 5 colors are required for a complete DTF printing setup.
How much DTF powder do I need per transfer?
Coverage depends on design size and ink coverage, but generally, 1 kilogram of DTF adhesive powder can cover approximately 200-300 transfers. Excess powder can be recycled and reused, making it very economical. Our 1-kilo bags are perfect for most users.
What size DTF film roll should I buy?
Our DTF film rolls come in 24-inch width (the most common size for DTF printers). Length is 100 meters per roll, which can produce hundreds of transfers depending on design size. This size works with most Epson-based DTF printers and modified printers.
Are your DTF supplies compatible with my printer?
Yes! Our DTF ink, powder, and film are compatible with all major DTF printers including Epson (L1800, L805, P800), Brother, Ricoh, Prestige, and modified DTF printers. They work with DX5, DX7, i3200, and other DTF printheads. If you have questions about compatibility, call us at (832) 666-0266.
Technical & Pressing Instructions
What temperature and time should I use to press DTF transfers?
The recommended pressing settings are: 305°F (150°C) for 10-15 seconds with medium-firm pressure. Peel the transfer film while hot (hot peel). For best results, do a second press for 5 seconds after removing the film to set the adhesive. These settings work for most fabrics – see our pressing tutorial for detailed instructions.
Should I pre-press my garments before applying DTF transfers?
Yes! Pre-pressing removes moisture, wrinkles, and sizing from the fabric, which ensures better adhesion. Press the garment for 3-5 seconds before applying your transfer. This simple step dramatically improves transfer quality and durability.
Hot peel or cold peel?
Our DTF transfers are hot peel, meaning you remove the film immediately while the transfer is still hot. This provides the best adhesion and finish. Wait 2-3 seconds after pressing, then peel the film away in one smooth motion.
Why is my transfer not sticking properly?
Common causes include: insufficient heat (use 305°F), insufficient pressure (use medium-firm pressure), insufficient time (press for full 10-15 seconds), moisture in the fabric (pre-press first), or peeling too soon/late (peel while hot). Check our troubleshooting guide for detailed solutions.
Can I layer DTF transfers on top of each other?
Yes, but it's not recommended for best results. If you must layer, press the first transfer completely, let it cool, then press the second transfer on top. However, for multi-color or complex designs, it's better to order them as a single combined transfer.
How do I store DTF transfers before pressing?
Store transfers in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. Keep them in their protective packaging until ready to use. Properly stored transfers have a shelf life of 6-12 months. Avoid folding or creasing the transfers.

What is DTF (Direct-to-Film) Printing?
DTF (Direct-to-Film) printing is an innovative and versatile method for creating high-quality, vibrant prints on various fabrics and materials. This process involves printing designs onto a special film using advanced digital printers. The design is then transferred from the film to the fabric using a heat press, ensuring vivid colors and exceptional detail.
DTF printing stands out for its flexibility and ease of use. Unlike traditional methods, such as screen printing or direct-to-garment (DTG), DTF allows for easy application on a wide range of surfaces, including cotton, polyester, blends, and even leather. The use of specialized adhesive powders in the process ensures strong adhesion to different fabric types, providing a durable and long-lasting finish.
One of the key advantages of DTF printing is its ability to produce complex and intricate designs with high resolution. The technology captures fine lines, gradients, and detailed patterns, resulting in crisp, professional-quality prints. Additionally, DTF transfers are known for their soft, smooth finish, avoiding the stiff or gritty texture often associated with other printing methods.
Whether you're creating custom apparel or experimenting with unique designs, DTF printing offers a seamless and efficient solution for achieving vibrant, detailed, and durable prints on virtually any material.
Benefits of Gang Sheets vs. Single Transfers for Direct-to-Film (DTF) Printing

**5. Flexible Design Options: With gang sheets, you can experiment with various designs, sizes, and arrangements on one sheet. This flexibility allows for creative freedom and the ability to test different designs simultaneously.
**6. Simplified Handling: Managing one large gang sheet is easier and more organized compared to handling multiple single transfers. This simplifies storage, reduces the risk of damage, and streamlines the application process.
**7. Reduced Shipping Costs: For businesses, gang sheets can lower shipping costs by consolidating multiple designs into fewer packages. This efficiency not only saves money but also reduces environmental impact.
**8. Ideal for High-Volume Orders: Gang sheets are perfect for businesses needing to produce large quantities of transfers. They offer an efficient solution for bulk printing while maintaining high-quality standards.

How to Apply Direct-to-Film (DTF) Transfers
Prepare Your Materials: Ensure that your garment or material is clean, dry, and free from wrinkles. For optimal adhesion, it's important that the surface is smooth and in good condition. Preheat your heat press to the recommended temperature, typically between 275°F and 320°F (135°C to 160°C), depending on the specific transfer instructions.
Position the Transfer: Carefully position the transfer film with the printed design facing the fabric. Use heat-resistant tape if necessary to hold the film in place and prevent shifting during the heat press process.
Heat Press the Transfer: Place the garment and transfer film onto the heat press platen. Close the press and apply firm, even pressure for the recommended time, usually between 10 and 15 seconds. Ensure that the temperature and pressure settings are aligned with the transfer film’s specifications.
Let it cool then Peel the Film: After pressing, let your transfer rest until it is cool to the touch (minimum of 15-30 seconds). This ensures that every part of your design adheres properly to your item. If you notice areas of the design not sticking, pause the peeling process, reposition the transfer, and follow these troubleshooting steps:
- If the design didn’t transfer and it was cool during peeling, it likely means there wasn't enough heat, pressure, or time. Repress the transfer with increased pressure
- If the issue persists, gradually adjust the heat by increasing in 15°F increments until you find the optimal temperature. Pressing multiple times won’t damage the transfer, so don’t hesitate to make these adjustments.
These steps will help you achieve a flawless transfer and ensure your design adheres perfectly.
Final Press: After peeling, place the garment back on the heat press and use a Teflon sheet or parchment paper for a short final press, usually 5 to 10 seconds. This step helps to fully set the transfer and ensure its durability.
Inspect and Finish: Check the transfer to ensure it has adhered properly and that the design is crisp and clear. If needed, perform additional finishing steps as recommended by the transfer film’s instructions.
By following these steps, you can achieve high-quality, durable prints with DTF transfers, making your custom apparel and designs stand out with vibrant colors and fine detail. Click Here for Video Tutorials

Affordable DTF Printing: Pay Per Length of Film, Not Per Design or Color
At Houston DTF Transfers, we offer a cost-effective pricing model for Direct-to-Film (DTF) printing that charges based on the length of film used, rather than per design or color. This approach allows you to maximize value and flexibility for your printing projects.
How Our Pricing Works:
- Cost Per Length of Film: We charge based on the total length of transfer film required for your order. This means you can print as many designs and colors as will fit on the film without incurring additional charges.
- Optimize Your Gang Sheets: The more designs you can fit onto a single gang sheet, the better your cost efficiency. Smaller designs allow you to maximize the use of each sheet, fitting more on a single film length. Conversely, larger designs will require more space, so plan accordingly to get the most out of your gang sheet.
Benefits of Our Pricing Model:
- No Extra Charges for Multiple Designs: Unlike traditional models, you won't pay extra for each design or color. Our pricing is based solely on the film length used, providing greater freedom and cost control.
- Flexibility and Savings: You have the flexibility to include a variety of designs and colors on one sheet without worrying about additional costs. This approach helps you save money and streamline your production process.
- Efficient Use of Space: By fitting as many designs as possible onto a gang sheet, you ensure optimal use of transfer film and reduce waste. This efficiency translates to better value and lower overall costs for your printing needs.
Maximize your printing budget and enjoy flexibility with Houston DTF Transfers’ film-length pricing model. The more efficiently you can use each gang sheet, the greater your savings and value.
